Valerie Brown, a Sonoma County, California supervisor is also on the national board of ICLEI-International Council on Local Environmental Initiatives, aka Local Governments for Sustainability.
Ms. Brown voted in November 2009, to have Sonoma County enter into an $83,000 contract with ICLEI for Greenhouse Gas Emission Reductions Protocols. This was a no-bid contract. Sonoma County is a dues-paying member of ICLEI. This appears to be a conflict of interest.
On June 6, 2011, Rosa Koire, Executive Director of The Post Sustainability Institute, filed a complaint with the California Fair Political Practices Commission alleging a conflict of interest, and requested an investigation.
The FPPC has 14 days from the filing to determine whether there is sufficient cause to investigate. We will keep you informed.
