The countdown has begun to September’s summit on the sustainable development goals, with national governments now discussing the 17 goals that could transform the world by 2030.  Read the article explaining the process and overview – click here.

(Ed. Note: The United Nations’ final 17 “sustainability” goals and sub-goals have been established, with a meeting scheduled in September 2015.  Will the U.S. sign onto them?  If put in place, the developed countries would be obligated to foot the bill for the least developed and developing countries. Read them and you’ll understand what that would mean.)

Sustainable development goals: changing the world in 17 steps – interactive

from http://www.theguardian.com/global-development/ng-interactive/2015/jan/19/sustainable-development-goals-changing-world-17-steps-interactive

This year, the millennium development goals – launched in 2000 to make global progress on poverty, education, health, hunger and the environment – expire. How do they differ from the MDGs [Millennial Development Goals]? And did the MDGs make much progress? Browse how the MDGs have morphed into the SDGs, and explore each SDG in more detail.
